Launched in 2004, NPM is FEMA’s* national annual preparedness outreach. NPM is managed and sponsored by FEMA’s Ready Campaign. The Ready Campaign, in conjunction with the Ad Council, aims to educate and empower Americans during NPM and throughout the year to prepare for and respond to all types of emergencies, including natural disasters and terrorist attacks.
Our idea here at 72 Hour Plan is to use this time each year to give you small and easy suggestions to incorporate into your preparedness efforts. In most cases we try to provide suggestions and ideas that can be done in less than one day. We call our effort “Steps to Prep”, and hope that throughout the month of September you will be able to find at least one, but hopefully several of the posted ideas informative and useful to you in your preparedness efforts.
We have decided to add the “2015” suffix to this years steps, so you can review 2014 and enjoy the new steps we are adding this year. Just click the NPM link at the top to see them all.
We also like to hear from you! If you have an idea, or easy “step to prep” that you would like to share, you can comment below, or send us a tweet using the twitter box on the right of the website, or send us an email. We will of course give credit where it is due, and we will provide a link to your website if you have one.
Preparedness is a journey, and we get there one step at a time. Plan, Prepare, Prevail !
*using the initials of a federal agency does not constitute our support. We coincide our steps to prep effort with NPM because we do feel awareness is increased nationally during this time.
