NPM8 Fight or Flight?

I was reading a work by the late Dr. Glenn Morris last night when I came across one of my favorite passages from the Chinese classic, Tao Te Ching (The Way and Virtue). A portion of chapter 31 from the Gia-fu Feng and Jane English translation states the following:

“Weapons are instruments of fear; they are not a wise man’s tools.
He uses them only when he has no choice.  Peace and quiet are dear to his heart.”

As wise and peace loving people, we general keep our distance from violence and the tools of violence.  However, when conflict arises and we have no choice but to defend self and families, we must have the knowledge and skill necessary to ensure success. Think about what this means for you.

Are you prepared?

A cornerstone to keeping yourself safe is situational awareness.  Learn to “keep your head on a swivel”  and be aware of your surroundings.  Most criminals are opportunistic, they look for targets that won’t recognize the threat until it’s too late.  Keep your head up while walking.  Avoid late night outings. Learn basic escape and evade techniques.  Take just one step today and you will be thankful in the future.
